Intelligent Emissions Monitoring

We help industry and municipalities overcome emission problems to protect the environment and the people in it.

Air Detection and Ranging (Airdar)

Airdar takes inspiration from the polar bear, whose nose guides it like a compass above and below ice, allowing it to detect seals kilometers away.

Jared, J. (2022, March 5). How Far Can Polar Bears Smell? Fascinating Facts About Bear Behaviors. Natural Habitat Adventures. https://www.nathab.com/blog/how-far-can-polar-bears-smell/

Airdar removes the “fugitive” from fugitive emissions, making all emissions known and measurable. This ensures targeted solutions are implemented to efficiently and effectively address emission challenges.

Operate with confidence.

Our Services

Odour Management

Find odour sources caused by compounds such as hydrogen sulphide, benzene, and VOCs.

Community Monitoring

Understand the impact of all important emission sources on a community.

Leak Detection and Repair (LDAR)

Provide equipment level emissions monitoring to detect fugitive emissions as soon as they occur.

Methane Quantification

Measure methane emissions and build an accurate methane emissions inventory.

Fenceline Monitoring

Remotely monitor emissions at the fenceline and get alerted about high emission events.

Pipeline Leak Detection

Remotely monitor oil pipelines through near real-time leak detection and be alerted to leaks.

Airdar Features

Aerial view of a site with multiple monitoring points and visualization overlays showing emission source location with a red X.
  • Identify intermittent sources and large emission events that other technologies miss.

  • Estimate emission rates of individual sources and entire sites with up to 90% accuracy.

  • Operate without personnel on-site. No source is too high or too dangerous to monitor.

  • Track fugitive emissions back to their sources without the need to aim a monitoring instrument directly at an assumed source location.

  • Monitor all facility components simultaneously to locate the exact air vent, pipe, tank or other source that is emitting.

  • Detect off-site emission sources that cause problems and confusion on-site. Large sources have been located at distances as great as 22 km away.

  • Shell Gas Emissions

    Shell Americas

"Airdar itself represents a brilliant application of known technologies in new and unique ways that has made possible virtually continuous monitoring of gas emissions, such as methane, from any industrial facility."

  • Keyera Energy Emissions

    Keyera Energy

“We were astounded by [Airdar’s] capabilities… to accurately predict the location and characteristics of fugitive sources. We are convinced the Airdar technology is an important development and a solution to challenges facing our company and the industry.”

Rod Sikora, P. Eng | Environment Manager

  • Golder Emissions Monitoring

    Golder Associates

“We at Golder Associates have been fortunate to work and collaborate with Airdar Inc. on several projects over the last 10 years. One of the most remarkable aspects of the technology is that in each case where a facility or area has been analyzed, the results have contained new, unexpected and relevant information about emissions occurring in the area. The technology is truly a made-in-Alberta solution to monitoring and quantifying emissions in both challenging and routine scenarios, and often in dangerous or difficult to access locations.”
